How Often Should You Blog

Bringing new content to a blog is a very important. It keeps your content fresh and up to date, along with improving your search engine results. Most importantly, it keeps your readers engaged and strengthens the blog / reader relationship. However, there are important decisions to make when deciding to blog on a consistent basis.

Identify Your Blog Goals

You can blog about anything you want, but that isn’t always the best way to attract readers. Be sure to pick a specific topic for your blog (ideally something that pertains to your business or personal interests). After that, it’s really a matter of what the topic is. If you’re posting about book reviews, monthly updates are necessary to stay current. Reviewing the latest movies to come out to the theaters? Then numerous blog posts a week will be required. Should you be concerned with growing your blog as quickly as possible, multiple daily blog posts are required to build up interest.

Remember that you are creating a reputation, so your style of writing, opinions, and topics are what keep the readers coming back.

Keeping to a Blog Schedule

Set up a timeline each day, each week so that you have a consistent timeframe in which to post in. As you move into a comfortable groove, blogging with become a part of your life like tending to a garden or maintain a custom car. Readers will come back if you keep providing them content to pore over. They’ll know that they can rely on you to write about the topics they are interested in.

Don’t Burn Out!

Writing all day, every day can take a toll on you. Blogging can quickly become a chore rather than a pleasant activity if you’re constantly stressing over getting the latest post up. Once you have a solid group of readers, it can be daunting to keep up the pace in order to please them.

Sometimes, you just need to take a day off. Be upfront about it with your readers. Make a quick post about needed to take a day or two to yourself and recharge your batteries. This can even improve your writing in the long run if you step back for a while and return with a fresh outlook.

It’s also a good idea to make yourself a buffer. If you know that you will be on vacation and away from your computer, write up some posts in advance and set them to post on a specific date and time. This will keep the blog active while you are gone, letting you concentrate on relaxing!
