How do I set up my Corp-Comm email using Apple Mail?

Part III - SMTP Settings when your ISP Blocks Port 25

Many major ISPs block Port 25, which has the result of requiring that email users use their outgoing mail server instead of their email provider's. To adjust your Mac Mail Settings to accommodate this situation, you'll need to edit your Outgoing Mail Server settings.

1. If you haven't already done so, access your mail setting by clicking Preferences under Mail.

2. Make sure that your Corp-Comm account is highlighted, then click Edit.

3. Under Outgoing Mail Server, click Options... at the bottom of the Account Information window. NOTE: If this is a new account instead of an existing account, you instead need to click "Add Server..." under the options for Outgoing Mail Server (as shown in the last step of Part I).

4. A new window for SMTP Server Options will appear. Under Outgoing Mail Server, enter your ISP's outgong mail server, which depends on your ISP*.

- Server port - leave as 25
- Use Secure Sockets Layer - leave unchecked
- Authenticiation - select Password
- User Name - your ISP email address (not your Corp-Comm account)
- Password - your ISP account password

When done, click OK.

*Note: If your ISP does not block Port 25, you'll need a different set of instructions. Please click here if your ISP blocks Port 25.

5. The new info you just entered should now show as the Outgoing Mail Server. Click OK.

4. In the Accounts window, your Corp-Comm mail account should now show under the descriptive name you gave it previously (Part I).

You should be all set to send and receive mail using your Corp-Comm email now.
