Editing an existing Outlook Email profile - when ISP Blocks Port 25
If you want to edit an existing email account's settings, here are some guidelines that assumes that your
ISP blocks Port 25.
If your ISP does not block Port 25, click here for instructions. If you are not sure, contact your ISPs
customer service - or you may first try the settings that assume Port 25 is not blocked. (If the settings work, then you are all set.) If they do not work, a possible reason is that Port 25 may be blocked. However, if there are issues,
you should confirm with your ISP whether Port 25 is blocked since this is a very common cause of server connectivity failure.
1. Access your email account settings by selecting Accounts under the Tools menu.
2. Select your Corp-Comm account and click "Properties"
3. Click on the "Servers" tab to edit the server names.
4b. If your ISP blocks Port 25, you will not be able to use "mail.corp-com.com" as your outgoing server and will
instead have to use your ISPs server. (If your ISP does NOT block Port 25 click here.)
In this case, use "mail.corp-com.com" as the incoming mail server, but type in your ISP's outgoing or SMTP server name for Outgoing mail. (In some cases, you may even have to use your ISPs incoming server.)
The "Account Name" should still be your full email address.
Below, under "Outgoing Mail Server" you should require authentication.
Click on "Settings" next to the checkbox regarding authentication.
5b. Do not "Use same settings as my incoming server" if you are using an ISP that blocks Port 25. Instead,
this is where you need to indicate your ISP's account information (email and password). Click OK when done and close out of all the dialog boxes.
You should be all set!
